He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie “Lou” Walker McLaughlin and Clifford “Jelly” McLaughlin; one brother, Henry McLaughlin; and one nephew Erich Spiers. For Mike, family came first. He was a devoted and loving husband. He was always on call for his family and would do anything and everything for them. His favorite moments were spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved picking pecans in the backyard with his grandkids and attending school and sporting events. It was rare that he ever missed an event, whether it was Grandparent’s Day, track, swimming, cross country, dance recitals or volleyball, even practices when he could. Put simply, he loved being “Grandpa.” He also treasured his many travels with his wife and close friends. Mike had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. It was easy to tell when he was in a room by the sounds of laughter. We are sure he is looking down on us and smiling with that twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes. Memorial contributions may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc, is honored to serve the McLaughlin family.
