James Kevin Polk, 60, died Friday, December 23, 2016 at his home in Houma following a brief illness.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 11:00AM until Service time at Chauvin Funeral Home. Funeral Services to be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 6:00PM at Chauvin Funeral Home. Visitation will continue after Funeral Services and conclude at 9:00PM. There will be a Funeral Service to be held at Carriere First Baptist Church in Carriere Mississippi on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:00PM with burial to follow in Carriere First Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was married to Vickie Credeur Polk of Broussard, Louisiana. He leaves four boys; Corey James Polk and his wife Lauren of Houma; Michael Jesse Polk of Breaux Bridge, William James Polk of Houma and James Kevin Polk II of Broussard. His mother, Jessie Ruth Gray of Carriere, Mississippi and his Step-Mother, Myra Broussard Polk of New Iberia. Two sisters: Cynthia Ruth Polk Phillips and her husband Michael of Carriere, Mississippi and Suzanne Polk Fox and her husband Greg of Covington, Louisiana. He had three grandchildren; Caleb Anthony Polk, Bailey Renee Polk and Sai James Polk
He is preceeded in death by his Father James Thomas Polk of New Iberia, his Step-Father William “Billy” Gray of Houma; his step sister Tammy Marie Bodin of New Iberia, his grandparents; Travis and Nell Palmer of Carriere, Mississippi and Charles and Dora Polk of Monticello, Mississippi. Kevin was born in Picayune, Mississippi and grew up in Houma,LA. He graduated from South Terrebonne High School in 1974. In 1980, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Sonar Technician. After his military service, Kevin attended The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, Magna Cum Laude in 2000. Kevin was employed as a Quality Specialist at Baker Hughes in Houma. He enjoyed cooking and creating music with his sons. Kevin’s talent for beautiful music will live long in our hearts.
