Visitation will be held at Chauvin Funeral Home Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 9:00AM until Service time. Funeral Services will start on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 1:00PM with burial to follow in Bayou Black Cemetery (St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Cemetery) in Houma, LA.
Lynn is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Claire Bergeron Hatch; son Eric Hatch and wife Donna of Houma; daughter Debbie Hatch Cope and husband, Thomas of Schriever; brother Charles Hatch; sisters Isabel H. Parham and husband, Gene; Molly H. Cantrelle and husband, Thomas; Katie H. Miller; Shirley H. Porrier and late husband, Don; and grandchildren Alex Hatch, Leah Cope, Spencer Hatch, Kristen Hatch, and Kevin Cope.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Cedie Hebert Hatch; son Rory Hatch; brothers Alton Hatch and wife, Gladys; Ira Hatch and wife, Margaret; Percy Hatch; and Hugh Hatch and wife, May; sisters Dorothy H. Barnett and husband, Bert; Eva Lou H. Kelpsch and husband, Pat.
Lynn was best known for, and can be described as, “The Plant Man” for all the generations that he supplied vegetable plants and farming-wisdom to his loyal customers, friends, and family. His philosophy of supply was, “18’s a dozen”. He served our country as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War, and retired from the Terrebonne Parish School District; but his tractor was his life and his garden was his passion. He was a quiet, caring man that would give anyone the shirt off his back, and he loved his wife, children and grandchildren more than life itself. He will be sadly and greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at TGMC; the doctors of Family Doctor Clinic; the straight-forwardness of Dr. Feinberg; the administrators and skilled nurses at The Oaks of Houma; St. Catherine’s Hospice; and everyone who helped in the process, even if offering a prayer.
Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hatch family.
