Dorohty "Dot" Hurst Fuori

May 18, 1925 — August 26, 2016

Dorothy “Dot” Hurst Fuori, 91, went to be with our Lord Friday, August 26, 2016. She was a native of Liberty, MS and a resident of Houma, LA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home, Houma, LA, in the Magnolia Chapel on Friday, September 2, 2016 beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery in Houma, LA. Dot is survived by her step-son, Dr. William "Bill" Fuori and wife Liz of Florida; step-grandchildren, Michael Fuori and wife Laura, Elizabeth Fuori Lechmanski and husband Scott; step great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Michael, Austin, and Tyler; sister, Annie Mae Savoy and husband George Allen Savoy. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, David Savoy and wife Mary Jo, Monty Savoy and fiance Barbara, Alana Savoy, Holly Hurst Caballero and husband Daniel, Oscar James "Jimmy" Hurst, Jr. and wife Debbie, Herman Chad Hurst and wife Sandra, Jody Thomas Hurst and wife Lisa and numerous loving great-nieces and nephews. Dot was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Michael A. Fuori; parents, Thomas Linton, Sr. and Julia Harrell Hurst; sister, Frances "Joyce" Hurst McComb, and brothers, Oscar James Hurst, Sr. and wife/sister-in-law Hilda Domangue Hurst and Thomas Linton Hurst, Jr.; and great niece, Christy Lynn Hurst. Dot was a loving Aunt to many and an instrumental mother figure to all. She had many talents, which included tending to her garden and growing pepper plants, tomatoes, cucumbers and much more. Dot and her husband loved to travel, they belonged to a travel club and made many friendships throughout the years. She was active in the Telephone Pioneers, Altrusa and Sierra clubs, and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Houma, where she taught Sunday School and was very active in the nursery. She also helped and blessed many mental heath patients with her kindness and love. She was a proud Tigerette with Terrebonne High School during WWII. Dot was employed by South Central Bell as a switchboard operator, gradually promoted over the years to supervisor, and retired after 30 years of service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to First Baptist Church of Houma, Nursery Department. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Fuori family.
