October 21, 1950 — May 12, 2016

Michael “Mike” James Deroche , 65, a native and resident of Houma, LA was received in to the hands of the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 9:43am; after a brief but tough battle with a rare cancer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Monday, May 16, 2016 from 8:00am to 9:45am at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:00am at New Zion Baptist Church in Houma. Michael is survived by his, Loving wife of twenty-eight years,Roxane Champagne Deroche; Mother, Dolores Labit Deroche of Houma, LA; Sons, Michael Deroche Jr. and wife Danielle and Jared Deroche and wife Amanda; Daughter, Amanda Deroche Fields and husband Nicholas Fields Sr.; Brothers, Wayne Deroche and wife Laverne and Ralph Deroche and wife Shanna; Sisters, Dianna Deroche and companion Myron Aycock and Susan Deroche Chaisson and husband Dean; Grandchildren, Cameron Deroche, Shilah Fields, Shaila Fields, Shelbi Fields, Shorli Fields, Anna Deroche, Nicholas Fields Jr., James Deroche, Paisleigh Deroche; Godchild Matthew, Deroche and James DelBuono; Special friends, Jennie Callahan, John Voisin, and Harold Walker.  Michael is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his, Father, Albert Joseph Deroche; Parents in Law, Joseph Champagne Sr. and Irene Champagne, Nephews, Dean Chaisson Jr., Sean Chaisson, Sister in Law, Flossie Champagne, and great niece, Kenly Dominique. Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and die hard LSU fan and devoted much of his life to saving others. Michael was a retired training officer with twenty three years of service with the Houma Fire Department. He was the Director of Homeland Security and Office of Emergency Preparedness for Terrebonne Parish for twelve years. He served as a Fire Chief of Grand Caillou Fire Department for two years. He was a Charter member of the Krewe of Hercules and a member of many organizations such as, the Professional Firefighters Association of Louisiana, Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association, American Red Cross & American Heart Association, and held many medical and hazmat certifications. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed; but never forgotten. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Deroche family.
