Albert "A.J." Mire

Albert Jerome Mire, 87, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 03:50 AM. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 noon at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Burial: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 He is survived by his, Albert "A.J." Jerome Mire went to his Heavenly home and entered eternal rest on Wednesday April 20,2016 at 3:50 A.M. Albert was married to Ramona Breaux Mire for 67 years and was survived by her as well as three children: Ruth Mire Lovell and spouse Nathanael (Nat) Lovell, Dianne Mire Griffith and spouse Jack J. Griffith, and Joan Mire Crochet Roseberry.  Albert is survived by grandchildren: Travis Jerome Lovell and spouse Lindsay, Tonya Crochet Bray and companion Chris Ledet, Amber Ann Roseberry and a step-grandson Jack Lloyd Griffith. Albert was also survived by great-grandchildren: Tiffany Bray and Juliannah Grace Lovell, Miller Claire Lovell expected during the summer of 2016 and one step-granddaughter Olivia Griffith. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Mire Fruchtnicht and sister-in-law Lynn Crosby Breaux and numerous nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his mother Sophie Theriot Mire and his father Jerome Mire and Step-mother, Marie Palmisano Mire as well as a sister Dorothy Mire. Also preceding him in death were his foster parents, Daly Champagne and Sarahline Theriot Champagne, as well as two sons-in-law, Steve Roseberry and Paul Crochet,Jr. Albert was known by all who knew him as "A.J." and was an employee at A M & J C Dupont's for 21 years and a dedicated employee of Main Iron Works for over 30 years. A.J. was also a Korean war veteran. During his life, he never met a stranger and was well known for his incredibly strong handshake. He will be forever remembered as a praying man who took time every day for at least an hour of prayer daily. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a member of Harvest Cathedral for many years.
