Cecilia Bourg Guidry, 92, a native of Bourg and resident of Houma, died Saturday, May 2, 2009.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Frances de Sales Co-cathedral. Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Rodrigue; two sons, Paul Bourg and wife, Myrna and Duane Guidry and wife, Peggy; one daughter-in-law, Linda B. Guidry; one brother, George Bourg and wife, Rosemae; nine grandchildren, Shanna R. Deroche and husband, Ralph, Tracy R. Scott and husband, Ed, Julie Rodrigue, Eric Rodrigue and wife, Kelly, Connie G. Broom and husband, Mark, Wendy G. Adams, Robert Guidry Jr. and wife, Tiffany, Ann-Celeste B. St. Amant and husband, Timothy, and Kade Bourg; 16 great-grandchildren, Rochelle, Matthew, Carlie, Sarah, Lauren, Justin, Edward, Ericka, Hannah, Channing, Kellie, Natalie, Elaina, Tyler, Addison, Ian, and Avery; seven great-great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Joseph “Chunk” Guidry; her parents, Amedeo and Clarisse Duplantis Bourg; one daughter, Betty Jane Guidry; one son, Robert Guidry Sr.; one son-in-law, Lionel Rodrigue; one brother, Allen Bourg; four sisters, Ida B. Authement, Ruth B. Authement, Justine B. Boquet and Rose Bourg; and six step-children, Louis Guidry Jr., Lottie B. Bowman, Curtis Guidry, Hayes Guidry, Arlen Guidry, and Myrl G. James.
Cecilia was a parishioner of St. Frances de Sales Co-cathedral and was a devoted Catholic. She was a beautiful example of a Christian woman to all who knew her. She lived a simple life in service of others. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, sewing, crocheting, and making and praying the rosary. She was a retired employee of TARC who loved working and caring for special-needs children. She will be dearly remembered and greatly missed.
