Marian Champagne

September 10, 1919 — March 14, 2016

Marian K. Champagne, 96, died on March 14, 2016. She was a native of High Point, North Carolina and long term resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 11:00am at Magnolia Cemetery. Burial: Magnolia Cemetery She is survived by children: Carol Champagne Percy, Barry Champagne and wife, Debra and Carl Champagne and wife, Kayla and grandsons Jonathan Percy, Matthew Percy, Scott Champagne, Brian Champagne and Andrew Champagne, great-grandson, James Roland Percy, and a brother, John H. King, Jr. and wife, Loretta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland J. Champagne; parents, John H. King, Sr. and Mary Freeman King; and a brother, William E. King. Marian was a 1936 graduate of High Point High School and attended Jones Business College. After working at Amos Hosiery Mills in High Point, North Carolina, she moved to Ohio where she worked at Wright Aeronautical Corporation.  In 1943, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where she served until April, 1946.  In 1947, she married Roland Champagne and moved to Houma where she lived until 2010 when she moved to the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking and music. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Louisiana Women Veterans, 14237 Shenandoah Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA. 70817 or to the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home, 1610 Evangeline Road, Jennings, LA 70546 (for veteran's activities).
