Michael Solito

May 3, 1963 — February 22, 2016

Michael Joseph Solito, 52, a native and resident of Houma, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016. Visitation will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home and on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church.  Burial to follow at St. Francis #2 Cemetery in Houma. He is survived by his lifelong companion of 18 years Beatrice Broussard, as well as his most loving parents Charles and Judy Solito, sister Cindy Solito and brother Charles Solito Jr., children Melissa Gray, Danielle Charbonnet and Nickolas Beebe, and prized grandchildren Myrna Benoit, Mazy Rhodes, Jay Rhodes and Alexander Charbonnet. He was welcomed into the waiting and loving heavenly arms of those who went before him- sister Nancy Solito, nephew Chaz Boudreaux Sr. and wife Myrna Solito Gray. Michael was a long distance truck driver who loved life. He showed this in the lifetimes of living he experience in the abbreviated time he walked this earth. He worshiped every Saturday, barbecued every Sunday and worked every Monday. He shared his affection with all he knew, as well as many he didn’t. As he traveled the country, Michael would feed anyone in need from the cab of his rig. He would treat these strangers as family, a true testament to the kind of man he was. It is only fitting that the truest testament would be his last. As this family grieves, we take pride, joy, and eternal comfort in the thought that Michael Joseph Solito lives on in the lives he extended (and the strangers he comforted) through the extremely humble act of organ donation. In our eyes, our family has grown. His handshakes hurt. His eyed loved. His smile spread. We will miss them all.
