Irvin Joseph Duplantis, age 91, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He was a native of Grand Caillou and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery
He is survived by loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Drusella Duplantis, son, Eric P. (Paula) Duplantis, daughters, Vera D. (Vincent) Chaisson, Debra D. (Wayne) Winstead and Maureen D. (Larry) Lirette, daughter-in-law, Yvonne P. Duplantis, sister, Rita D. Dupre, grandchildren, Rachel Haddad, Dr. Keith Duplantis, Jeffrey Duplantis, Carl V. Chaisson, Buddy Chaisson, Kevin Chaisson, Lance Winstead, Lacey Winstead, Kayla Russo, Hannah Chaisson and Taylor Lirette, twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sr. and Velina Duplantis, son, Deacon Connely Duplantis, grandson, Gerard Duplantis, brothers, Albert Sr., Elwin Sr., Wilbert Sr., and Clarence Jr. Duplantis, sisters, Eveline D. Boudreaux, Wilma D. Pellegrin, Irene D. Carrere and Mildred D. Bourg.
Irvin was an avid gardener. He was the oldest living Charter member of VFW Post 4752 and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during WWII. Irvin was very proud to be a Guard of Honor to President Truman when they signed the peace treaty in Germany during World War II. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
