Gloria Picou Bexley, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, December 18 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Norris “Snow” Bexley, daughter of the late Milze and Aline Domangue Picou, Gloria was born in Houma on January 11, 1925. Gloria is survived by her sons, Allen and wife Marian of Houma, Dale of Lafayette, her daughters, Mary Arceneaux and husband Bobby, Laurie Landry and husband Jeff, and Jody Guidry and husband Kenny all of Houma, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister Shirley Clement, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Picou. Widowed at a very young age, Gloria’s greatest accomplishment in life are her children and family. She was a loving, devoted and selfless mother and grandmother; a kind, compassionate and giving person. Gloria worked for 30 years as a sales associate at Fakier Jewelers. She loved knitting, cooking for her family and giving to others. Gloria was a member of Harvest Cathedral. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 9:00am until 11:00am on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Harvest Cathedral located at 1224 Museum Drive in Houma. A Christian funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery #2. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Andre Guidry and Haydel Memorial Hospice for their care and compassion and Mrs. Odessa Brumfield, Ms. Glo’s sitter, for loving our mother like family.
