Royce Moore

Royce Joseph Chauvin Moore, 88, left for his ranch in heaven on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 10:00 PM. He was born on November 20, 1926 in Houma and was a lifelong resident of both Houma and Thibodaux, LA.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc and Monday, November 9, 2015 at 9:00 AM until funeral time at St. Bridget Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM.   With burial to be held in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn Hope Leinbach-Moore; sons, Charles L. Moore, and Neal D. Chauvin and wife, Jovita; stepsons, Karl Frankhouser and wife, Jennifer, and Kurt Frankhouser and wife, Laurel; daugthers, Lynette M. Hui, and Elaine Schaffer and husband, David; brother, Edward "Teenie" Moore and wife, Mabel; sister, Peggy Chauvin Catsikis and husband, Basil; grandchildren, Jonathan, Samantha, Julieanna, Justin, Derek, Ryan, Lindsay, Savannah, Kristin, Jason, and Nathanael; great-grandson, Camden. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlyn Triplett Moore; father, Edward Joseph Chauvin; and mother, Delnot Toups Moore. He was a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Mr. Moore joined the US Navy at age sixteen and served until the end of World War II. He was a notary public for over 35 years at his office in Bayou Blue. He was a member and former treasurer of the Knights of Columbus. and also a member and former treasurer of the Cajun French Music Association. In his early years he was a member of the Bourg Lions Club. More recently he was an Usher and Greeter at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Mr. Royce will always be remembered for his quick wit and humor until his last breath. Whenever people stopped by his Notary office, he loved helping them with any problem or difficulty they had.   He tried to leave everyone he met with a smile. His favorite sayings were "Be careful and don't meet anyone by accident!" and "The 1st hundred years are the hardest, the rest are easy". He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
