Vernis Crochet

Vernis Marie Crochet, age 91, passed away peacefully Friday, October 23, 2015.  She was a native of Leeville, LA and resident of Bayou Blue, LA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc., beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery in Bayou Blue. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Enos Crochet, Houma, LA; son, Wad Crochet and wife Mary of Lafayette, Indiana; sisters, Martha M. Billiot, and Felicia M. Layus; and brother, Vincent J. Liner and wife Mable. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent J. Liner and Leoncia Pitre Liner.  She was a member of Bayou Blue Methodist Church. Vernis was an avid quilter and enjoyed working outdoors with her flowers. She was a very devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with her nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was always willing to offer love and support to others. She was a tireless and devoted advocate to the children of the MacDonell  Methodist Orphanage Center for 40 years as an employee and volunteer.
