Norman “Buddy” Joseph Giroir, 88, died peacefully at home surrounded by family Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 09:35 PM. He was a native of Gibson, LA and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 9:00am to service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am followed by burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years: Ruth Daigle Giroir, Sons: Lynn Giroir and wife Edwina, Terry Giroir and wife Janis, Bryan Giroir and wife Trudy, all of Houma LA, Daughters: Cindy McGlasson and husband Clay of Baton Rouge LA, Connie Aucoin and husband Stanley Aucoin II of Morgan City LA, Sister-in-Law: Mamie Trahan, Grandchildren: Dean Giroir and wife Betsy, Patrick GIroir and wife Jamie, Bradley Giroir and wife Alisha, Craig Giroir and wife Jessica, Todd Jabour, Lacey Giroir, Jennifer Monson and husband Wesley, Wynna Aucoin, Stanley "Tre" Aucoin III and wife Rachel, Amber Daigle and husband Lloyd Jr., and Dane Giroir, and twenty-two Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: Joseph Giroir and and Alcide Breaux Giroir, and brother Eldridge Giroir and sisters Ruby Giroir, Casey Pursell and Mattie Giroir and also his Biological Parents Delfrest Trahan and Adeline Breaux Trahan and brothers and sisters and one Grandson: Ricky Bader Jr.
Buddy was the owner of an oil field business. He received the Bishop's Medal of Honor for his service at St. Patrick’s Church in Gibson, LA and was also an active member in the Gibson community. He served three terms on the Terrebonne Parish School Board.Buddy loved fishing and having coffee with his friends downtown. He also enjoyed watching football, loved to BBQ and spend time with family and friends. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Russell Henry and Staff, St. Joseph Hospice, and his caregivers Ms. Rosalie Bergeron, Ms. Brenda Fuchs, Mrs. Jeanette Hebert, and Ms. Paula Adams for their dedicated and compassionate care.
