Bertha Miller Benoit, 89, a native of Grand Chenier, LA and resident of Houma, died Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 04:30 PM at her home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 9:00 AM until Service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Burial: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 She is survived by her son, Paul Benoit and wife, Son Hui; daughters, Cynthia B. Gaudet and husband Rodney, and Karen B. Blanchard and husband Daniel; grandchildren, Jeff Gaudet and wife Cherise, Ryan Gaudet and wife Andie, Kim B. Maynard and husband Ian, Danielle B. Marie and husband Kyle, Brittany Blanchard, Alison B. Howard and husband Tim and Kellie B. Kerstetter and husband Brian; great grandchildren, Brennen and Jace Gaudet, Bailey J. Malbrough and husband Travis, Dylan, Owen and Mollie Gaudet, Samantha, Harper, and Hayden Marie, Christian and Carter Maynard, Philip Kerstetter and Helena Howard, brothers, Philip W. Miller and wife Marlene, Leon Leger and wife Ann. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Paul Brennen Benoit; son, Philip Brennen Benoit; parents, Philip and Patricia Miller; and sister, Dorothy Evans and husband Houston. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. She retired from the Terrebonne Parish School System in 1983. Her teaching years were dedicated to the students at Lisa Park, Broadmoor, Evergreen, Daigleville Schools and Jennings High School. She enjoyed camping, fishing, Blue Grass music, dancing, cooking, canning and visiting Branson. Most of all, she cherished spending special times with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to visiting and having coffee and cookies with friends and neighbors. She found great pleasure in planning family and class reunions. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will always be remembered by her great smile and beautiful blue eyes.
