Dr. Matthew Matherne

Dr. Matthew Sanderson Matherne, 34, a resident of Houma/New Orleans and native of Bourg, LA died at 7:18 a.m. on October 14th 2015. Visitation will be from 10a.m. until funeral time at 1p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church , Bourg, LA. Burial service to follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Matthew is survived by his wife Amy Kennedy Matherne, and her parents, Gaynell and Stephen Kennedy, and her brother Jeffery; his father Brian Matherne and his wife Marianne Rhodes Matherne; his sister Kellie Matherne Daniels, her husband , Jonathon Daniels, and their three children, Isabella Salome, Scarlett Grace, and Vivienne Rose; and his grandmother, Nancy Sanderson Matherne. He is preceded in death by his mother Salome Hebert Matherne, maternal grandfather, Wilbert Hebert, maternal grandmother, Elsie Authement Hebert, and paternal grandfather Ray Matherne. Dr. Matherne was a graduate of LSU in Baton Rouge, and earned his doctorate of medicine degree in 2009 from LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. He started his Family Medicine Residency at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie. He loved his wife and family and was a positive influence on all those he encountered. Dr. Matherne loved life and will be greatly missed.
