Mildred Lucille Melancon Leonard, 87, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Houma, died 3:35 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009.
Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Services followed at 11 a.m. at the church, with burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
She is survived by her two sons, Ellis V. Leonard and wife, Betty, and Dale Leonard and wife, Connie, both of Houma; one daughter, Rochelle Rhodes of Houma; two sisters, James “Irene” Robichaux and Murphy “Marie” Carrere, both of Houma; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Vincent Leonard; parents, Noah C. and Marie Tabor Melancon; two brothers, Amos Melancon and Ulysse Melancon; and one sister, Hugh “Mable” Falgout.
She was a homemaker and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 3700 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
