Richard “Rick” Joseph Bethancourt Jr., 62, a native of Tampa, Fla., and resident of Houma, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Lau Bethancourt; his mother, Gabrielle Cooper Bethancourt; one son, Richard Joseph Bethancourt III; three daughters, Kimberly Bethancourt, Michele Wong and husband, David Wong, and Iris Bethancourt Stuart and husband, Caleb Stuart; one sister, Carolyn Bethancourt Kyle and husband, Bill Kyle; one brother, Norris James Bethancourt and wife, Peggy Bethancourt; and three grandchildren, Serene Wong, Joy Wong and Chloe’ Isabella Stuart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Joseph Bethancourt Sr.
He attended Louisiana State University and the United States Air Force Academy. He was a Mason and a member of the National Rifle Association. He retired from Dresser International Guiberson Division as an area manager for the Asia/Pacific region. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
