Annie “Anne” Florence Pascher Howard, a long-time resident of Houma, Louisiana and native of LaBelle, Florida, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of August 17, 2015. She was 90 years old.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Monroe Howard; her parents, Charles Ferdinand Pascher and Hattie Elizabeth Thigpen Pascher, and her siblings Elizabeth Keechel, Charles Pascher, Dorothy Turner, Alton Pascher and Norma Jean Reed.
She is survived by her three children: Theresa Perry and husband, Carl, of Rome, Georgia; Ellen Guidry and husband, Dr. Gary Guidry, of Houma, Louisiana; and Arthur Howard and wife, Glenda, of Houston, Texas. She had eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren who all adored her as “Nanny”: Kendall Perry, his wife, Candie, and daughter, Carter Anne, of Ooltewah, Tennessee; Dr. Lee Perry, his wife, Leanne and children, Ryan, Andrew, Samuel, Vivian Claire, Benjamin and Luke of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee; Stephen Perry of Dacula, Georgia; Margaret Guidry Stacom, her husband, Keith, and their daughters, Catherine Paige and Caroline Pascher, of Houma, Louisiana; Emily Guidry Schatzel, her husband, Mark, and daughter, Scarlett Claire, of West Chester, Pennsylvania; Laura Guidry Ledet, her husband, Ross, and daughter, Iris Ellen, of New Orleans, Louisiana; Heath Howard of Austin, Texas and son, Dwight; Anise Percle of Lockport, Louisiana and son, Jake. She is also survived by her brother, Clyde Pascher of Freeport, Florida and his wife, Betty; and her sisters, Betty Malloy and her husband, Lynn, of Moore Haven, Florida and Linda Hooper of Fort Myers, Florida.
Anne was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Houma since she moved to Houma in 1949. She was an active member of her church, including working with four-year-olds in Sunday School for many years. Anne was also an active member of the A.W. Connely Chapter of The Order of Eastern Star for 50 years, serving as an officer for many of those years. She also served as a page in the international organization. She was Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls Houma Chapter numerous times.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and baking. Her favorite hobby was gardening, and she did it very well. She loved telling stories and laughing. She doted on her family and gave generously and from her heart.
When a need arose, Anne was always genuinely willing to help. She provided selflessly for so many people over the years and never sought any recognition in return. She lived her life by the words of Jesus – loving the Lord God with all her heart, and her neighbor as herself. In doing so, she taught others by her example what a Christian life is supposed to be – a joyful and selfless reflection of Jesus.
She was truly one of the sweetest, happiest, most loving people one could ever hope to meet. Her family knows she is at home in Heaven, worshipping at the feet of Jesus and enjoying the fellowship she is sharing with many loved ones who preceded her. We are comforted by the memories of wonderful times shared together until we are blessed by our reunion with her in Heaven.
Anne’s family would like to thank Dr. Russell Henry and his staff for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 9 to 11 am at First Baptist Church of Houma, 4863 West Park Avenue, Houma, followed by a celebration of life beginning at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Baptist Church of Houma Legacy Fund.
