America Sidonia Porche Porche, 87, a native of Millikin and resident of Houma, died at 6:28 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. today at St. Eloi Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Martin Paul Porche and wife, Amy, of Houma; one daughter, Yvonne P. Hebert and husband, Richard, of Houma; two sisters, Inez M.P. Brien of Pace, Fla., and Mary Etna P. Schafide of Houma; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Jean Porche; her parents, Milton J. Porche and Mary Etna Whitmore Porche; three sons, Christopher Porche, Patrick Porche and Anthony Porche; one daughter, Catherine Madlyn Porche; and one sister, Sybil M. Porche Martinez.
She was a former reporter for the Houma Daily Courier and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Eloi Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Diabetes Association.
She was a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church.
