Myrtle Desmares

Myrtle Dixie Rouse Desmares, 90, a native of Poplarville, Miss., and resident of Houma, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009. Click to enlarge Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at First Baptist Church in Houma. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, Burton Desmares; her parents, Andrew Rouse and Esther Cowart Rouse; one son, Charles Raymon Desmares and wife, Linda; one daughter, Patricia Ann Desmares Allgood and husband, Carlton; four grandchildren, Deborah Allgood Hassen, Alan Allgood, Kimberly Ann Desmares Talbot and Michael Desmares; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilbur Roddy, Ellis Rouse, Paul and Elmer Roddy and Jacob Roddie; and three sisters, Eva Rouse Dearman, Ruth Roddie Foxworth and Togo Roddie Thomas. She was a homemaker and a receptionist. She volunteered as a librarian and was a volunteer at First Baptist Church of Houma. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma.
