Myrtle Dixie Rouse Desmares, 90, a native of Poplarville, Miss., and resident of Houma, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009.

She is survived by her husband, Burton Desmares; her parents, Andrew Rouse and Esther Cowart Rouse; one son, Charles Raymon Desmares and wife, Linda; one daughter, Patricia Ann Desmares Allgood and husband, Carlton; four grandchildren, Deborah Allgood Hassen, Alan Allgood, Kimberly Ann Desmares Talbot and Michael Desmares; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilbur Roddy, Ellis Rouse, Paul and Elmer Roddy and Jacob Roddie; and three sisters, Eva Rouse Dearman, Ruth Roddie Foxworth and Togo Roddie Thomas.
She was a homemaker and a receptionist. She volunteered as a librarian and was a volunteer at First Baptist Church of Houma.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma.
