James Jeffrey Marcel Sr., 77, a native and resident of Houma, died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009.
Visitation will be from 5 until 10 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores Mazarac Marcel; one son, James “Tuddy” Marcel Jr. and wife, Ramona Meyers Marcel of Houma; two daughters, Debra Matherne and Carla M. Lyons and husband, Kelly, both of Houma; one brother, Leonard Marcel of Houma; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeffrey James Marcel and Effie LeBoeuf Marcel; one brother, Wilbert Marcel; and two sisters, Ethel Larpentier and Lena Portier.
He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was a former volunteer fireman for Bayou Cane and an outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting with kids and grandkids. He was devoted to his family and wife of 53 years.
