Peter Gottschalk

Peter Helmut Gottschalk, 74, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at his home. A native of Lauchammer, Germany, Peter called Houma, Louisiana home for the last 32 years. Peter had a long and successful career in oil-related and shipping industries, working for Nolty J. Theriot and Crowley Maritime. Even though his travels brought him all over the world, he loved to come home to his family. Peter is survived by his wife of 50 years, Breeda (Rea) Gottschalk; his sons, Andreas Peter Gottschalk (Genevieve); Stephan Martin Gottschalk; Jurgen Helmut Gottschalk (Cheleste); and his daughter Petra Gottschalk Carpenter (Chip); along with 6 grandchildren, many relatives and friends in Ireland, Germany, and the United States. Peter will be dearly missed but always remembered as a quiet, sincere and kind gentleman. A private blessing for the family will be held at Chauvin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Gregory Barbarigo School, 441 6th Street, Houma, LA 70364.
