Robert Toms

Robert Elise Toms, 77, a native of Friendship and resident of Houma, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Carolina Baptist Church in Saline. Religious service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Alice Harper Toms of Houma; one son, Michael Edwin Toms and wife, Lynn Toms; one daughter, Dianne Thomas; four brothers, Wesley Toms, Jimmy Lane Toms, Larry Hughes Toms and Jerry Dale Toms; four sisters, Serona Fay Plunkett, Mary Sue Blood, Agnes Eddieman and Dawn Eddieman; five grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Toms Jones, Jessica Ann Toms, Luke Toms, Sarah Teague and Jeremiah Redmond; and four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Jones, Logan Jones, Arthur Glen Teague and Ellie Teague. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Westley Toms and Arva Elizabeth Caskey Toms; two brothers, Revis Wayne Toms and Tommy Roy Toms; and one sister, Rene Droddy. He was a retired foreman with McDermott and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Christ Baptist Church, 1700 East Tunnel Blvd., Houma, LA 70363.
