Donald John Poirrier, 82, a native and resident of Houma, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hatch Poirrier of Houma; four sons, Wynn and wife, Paula Pontiff Poirrier, Jerry and wife, Kitty Falgout Poirrier, Bruce and wife, Patty Naquin Poirrier of Houma and Bryan and wife, Stacy Hilbun Poirrier of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Lois Poirrier of Houma and Marian Williams of Chalmette; nine grandchildren, Brady Poirrier, Jennifer and husband, Mathew Parfait, Jason Poirrier, Jared Poirrier, Jessica Poirrier, Kristy and husband, Steven Mason, Jerry Jay and wife, Camee Gros Poirrier, Trey Poirrier and Peyton Layne Poirrier; and three great-grandchildren, Jewel Mason, Ava Mason and Seth Poirrier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lozin Camille Poirrier and Marie Augustine Erato Poirrier; his stepmother, Lucille Leontine Faivre Poirrier; one brother, Ray Poirrier; and two sisters, June Bergeron and Emma Engeron.
He was a retired postal employee with Exxon Dealer and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.
