Stanley "S.E." Bergeron, Jr., 93, life-long resident of Houma, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Sunday, February 22, 2015.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
Interment: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #1.
He is survived by his daughter Carol and husband Richard Eagle of Houma, sons, Kenneth and wife Ruth Bergeron, Dale Bergeron and David Bergeron of Houma, grandchildren, Tanya Bergeron, Crystal Melancon, Amber Eagle Trahan, Alyssa Eagle, Kayle Storm Adams and numerous great-grandchildren, sister, Shirley Bergeron Barbieri of Clarksdale, MS.
S.E. was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle "Sis" Pellegrin Bergeron, parents, Stanley Edward Sr. and Josephine Trahan Bergeron, sister, Betty Bergeron of Houston, Texas, and granddaughter Starla Bergeron Dupre of Houma.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral..
Retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
S.E. is a graduate of Terrebonne High School, was a WWII veteran serving in the USMC from 1940-1945 obtaining rank of sergeant. During this time he was a member of the Famous 180 Mile Hike. After discharge in 1945, he returned to his roots in Houma and after a few years became an employee with the U.S. Postal Service and remained until his retirement in 1985.
He was most proud of his family and of his 31 years of service for the U.S. government with the USMC and U.S. Postal Service. He will be remembered for his perseverance, courage and strength, especially in his final days.
