Joseph "Papa Joe" Elisha Freeman, 75, a native of Shidler, Okla., and resident of Houma, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph "Jody" Freeman Jr. and Dallas S. Freeman and wife, Lana, of Houma; one daughter, Kimber Freeman Landry and husband, Steven Landry, of New Iberia; one brother, Olen Freeman of Alabama; one sister, Margie Mochel of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Casey, Lindsay, Kaitlyn, Austin, Jake, Dallas, Larry and Leslie; seven great-grandchildren, Brittain, Blake, Taylor, Jett, Adelee, Kade and Kevin; and a special caretaker, Mary Hubbel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Davidson Freeman; his parents, William Jackson Freeman and Lydia Moren Freeman; three brothers, Kenneth Freeman, Roy Freeman and Bobby Freeman; and one sister, Pauline Chapmin.
He was a retired district manager with Baker Sand Control, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of Woodmen of the World and an avid fan of Dale Earhart Sr. and the Oklahoma Sooners.
