Glen Gerard Gomez, 58, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at 06:55 PM.
He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Monday, January 12, 2015 from 9:00 AM until service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral Church A Secular Service will be held from 10:30AM until 11:00AM and a Memorial Mass at 11:00AM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
He is survived by his,
wife of 26 years, Stephanie Kenney-Gomez; brothers, Bruce Gomez and wife, Lucinda, David Gomez and Lester Gomez, Jr.; sister, Cheryl Gomez Ray and husband, Stephen; mother-in-law, Judith F. Kenney; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his,
father, Lester Gomez Sr. and stepmother, Mig; mother, Marcella Gros Seminary; brother, Perry Wood.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
He was better known to radio listeners as Captain Glen. He was there for south Louisiana, keeping everyone informed with hurricanes, 9/11 and any time a trustworthy and reliable voice was needed. He was very active at Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne and various theaters in New Orleans. He was a life time member of The Friends of the Library. He was a master trivia player and was once a contestant on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”. He was a strong advocate for the Alzheimer's Association. His laughter, quick wit and infectious smile will be missed by all that knew him.
