Elaine Rice

Elaine Gilda Rice, 93, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at 03:40 AM. She was a native of Brooklyn, NY and resident of Houma, LA. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, Louisiana on Friday, January 16, 2014 at 1:00PM. She is survived by her, sons, Robert "Bob" Carl Rice, Sr. and wife, Judy, and John Douglas Rice and wife, Patricia; daughters, Sarah Elaine Rice and Sylvia Martin; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; companion, Chula. She was preceded in death by her, parents, Jacob Carl and Sarah Elaine Goldstein Fritz; brother, Conrad Fritz. She served in the US Navy during WWII as a hospital Pharmacist's Mate. She was a translator for the United Nations speaking three languages fluently. She served in the Peace Corp. She enjoyed traveling, eating exotic foods, reading, meeting people and spending time with her dog Chula. She loved to teach other and never met a stranger. She was a devoted SAINTS FAN and grandmother.
