George “Pop” Marc Breaux Sr., 84, a native of Port au Prince, Haiti, and resident of Houma, died at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Thibodeaux Breaux of Houma; one son, Marc Breaux and wife, Carla Breaux, of Houma; one daughter, Jere Breaux Hart and husband, Larry Hart, of The Woodlands, Texas; two brothers, Albert Breaux of Gray and Roy Breaux Jr. of Houma; and two grandchildren, Jere Hart Voisin and husband, Lynn, of Houma and Jered Hart of The Woodlands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy J. Breaux Sr. and Germaine Ohlrich Breaux; one son, Daniel Breaux; one brother, Robert Breaux; and one sister, Elsie Breaux Savoy.
He was a retired derrick barge operator with J.Ray McDermott with 42 years and a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II. He served on Guadacanal and Guam. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 3700, the American Legion and D.A.V. of Houma. He worked at the Food Bank and reached the wall of fame for donating 100 pints of blood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bayou Region Hospice.
He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.
