Mary G. “Shorty” Duplantis Buquet, 65, a native of Terrebonne Parish, a former resident of Dulac and resident of DeRidder, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Prayer service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by one daughter, Suzette “Ticky” LeBlanc and husband, Wayne Verdin of DeRidder; two brothers, Jerry Duplantis and wife, Lena, and William “Billy Boy” Duplantis and wife, Earline, of Grand Caillou; one sister, Veronica “Yonee” Maronge of Houma; and two grandchildren, Toby C. LeBlanc and Brennan M. Verdin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Buquet; her parents, Johnny Duplantis and Ida Chaisson Duplantis; four brothers, Kenneth “Phonk” Duplantis, Bruce Duplantis, Wedgir “Pete” Duplantis and Johnny Duplantis Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Jean LeBlanc and Lura “Tita” Duplantis.
She was a homemaker and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
