Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma. Holy Mass celebration of Marie’s ascension into Heaven will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial to follow in Metairie Cemetery. She is survived by her dedicated loving husband of 54 years, Giles E. Padel; two cherished daughters, Ann P. Irwin of Dallas and Diana P. Blouin of Houma; a magnificent sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kerragen C. Ledet; a caring brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Oubre; sons-in-law, Dr. Charles F. She was preceded in death by two sons, David Giles and Philip Michael. She was recognized by family and friends as the Symbol of Strength. Like a beacon of light she stood fast to her beliefs and convictions, as an ongoing inspiration to friends and family alike. She was an accomplished gardener, an award-winning horticulturist, a recognized gourmet cook and a polished connoisseur of fine living. For years she was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic church and a faithful Eucharistic Minister. She was a devoted wife and mother. She remained steadfast and true to her faith and convictions throughout her lifetime. She was a proud member of Sew N Sews, a very supportive sewing group of special friends and relatives. Remember: It is not love at first sight that counts ... It is love at last sight that matters. Her husband vows that his last sight of his beloved Marie Was second only to a beatific vision! She made my life worth living. She carried me through life...
