Charles “Cowboy” Edmund Madere, 78, a native of New Orleans and resident of Theriot, died at 7:42 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Dularge. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hall, with burial in St. Eloi Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julia Brunet Madere of Theriot; three sons, David Madere and wife, Melissa Hecker Madere of Maddison, Miss., Rene Madere and wife, Ellen, of Theriot, and Steve Madere of New Orleans; one daughter, Michelle Toups and husband, Carl, of Tomball, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edmund Madere and Libby Boudreaux Madere.
He as a retired store manger of Bethlehem Steel Supply Division for 30 years, a U.S. National Guard veteran in Louisiana and Texas during the Korean War, a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree, and past grand Knight and president of the Home Association and a charter member of Dularge and Dulac No. 7722 and 8779. He was a member of the Dularge Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the VFW, past Chaplin.
He was a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church.
