Irene Dupre LeCompte, 85, a native of Pointe-aux-Chenes and resident of Houma, died at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie C. LeCompte and wife, Pat, of Houma and Buvens J. LeCompte Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Laneville, Texas; one daughter, Christina Canty and husband, Ridgeley, of Houma; two sisters, Hazel Lirette of Montegut and Eulice Boudreaux of Houma; six half-sisters, Amadele Dupre of Pointe-aux-Chenes, Earline Naquin of Cocodrie, Dorothy LeBouef of Pointe-aux-Chenes, Alberta Pellegrin of Mississippi, Mary May Pinell of Bourg and Mildred Falgout of Houma; one half-brother, Lawrence Dupre of Bourg; nine grandchildren, Bryan LeCompte, Rebecca L. Jones, Juanita L. Thibodeaux, Jammie LeCompte, Sharon C. D’Antoni, Shane Canty, Melinda L. Hebert, Scott LeCompte and Carla C. Guidry; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buvens J. LeCompte Sr.; her parents, Paul Dupre and Lelia Savoie Dupre; one brother, Olden Dupre; and one sister, Thelma Pitre.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Shady Oaks Senior Citizens Club and won local and state awards in Senior Olympics.
She was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
