Barbara Dupre Stringer, 77, a native of Boudreaux Canal and resident of Chauvin, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family at 5:45 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2014. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Elmer "Buddy" Stringer; children, Carla Stringer Thibodaux and husband, Michael, of New Orleans, Bart Stringer and wife, Pamela, of Fulshear, Texas, and Tara Stringer, of Chauvin; and grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary Stringer, of Fulshear, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loveless and Edna Dupre; and sister, Margie Dupre Fadler. Barbara was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5013 and was a CCD teacher. She and her husband, Buddy, welcomed visitors across the U.S. and as far away as France and Canada to the Lagniappe Fair campground. The campground grew from 50 units to over 350 units during their tenure. She loved praying her Rosary, traveling throughout the U.S. with her family, tending her beautiful roses, spending time with her grandchildren, and loving her family time for holiday meals. The family wishes to thank Dr. Russell Henry and his caring staff, The Medical Team and Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful care and assistance. The family also wishes to thank the Rev. Msgr. Fredrick Brunet, the spiritual ministers of St. Joseph Church, the Rev. Scott Dugas, and all the loving prayers from everyone. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in her name may be made to any charity.
