This mother of three worked in many different fields during her lifetime, ranging from a position with the USDA to being a real estate agent. Her biggest accomplishment, however, was a 30-year career at Terrebonne General Hospital, beginning as a switchboard operator and retiring as a departmental director. She was an officer of the Business and Professional Women’s Organization, having been awarded Business Woman of the Year in 1986. In spite of her busy schedule, she found the time to attend college and earn a business degree. In addition to her professional career, June found the time to teach English to Spanish immigrants, travel to Central America as a missionary, and perform music in the tri-parish area. She also owned and operated The Motherly Way maternity shop after retiring from TGMC. June also was involved in community endeavors, having been on the Terrebonne Parish Parks and Recreation Committee and designing the Lafayette Woods Park. June was a regular at Shady Acres, enjoying cards and the company of others. She was also active with Council on Aging and St. Vincent de Paul. Her main love, aside from her family, was music and singing. June loved all instruments, but mostly played the guitar. She continued to learn different instruments, and sang up until the time of her passing. She was a member of the Playmates, performing for tour groups and at venues such as the Jolly Inn, Terrebonne Folklife Culture Center, Waterlife Museum, and various nursing homes. June had a welcoming heart, caring spirit, and Cajun ingenuity. She was always striving to better herself and others, cheering her family on in everything they did. She was especially happy with Gene, her companion, whom she loved dearly. A true role model, we are all blessed that she touched our lives. The family thanks Dr. Doria and the Mary Bird Perkins staff, Terrebonne General Medical Center, the Haydel Hospice Team, Rita Picou, and Sandra and Keith Nelton for helping to make her final days more comfortable. A special thanks to Geneal, who brought her such happiness through their shared love of music.
