Mary Leola Liner Benoit

Mary Leola Liner Benoit, 79, a native of Houma and resident of Gray, died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Bisland Cemetery. She is survived by her niece and caregiver for 19 years, Edna “Eddy” Pellegrin; four brothers, Albert “DoDo” Pellegrin and wife, Dez, Jessie Pellegrin, Ebert Pellegrin and Robert Pellegrin and wife, Virginia; two grandchildren, Stella Arcenaux and Reggie Arcenaux Jr.; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newman J. Benoit Sr.; her father, Oscar Liner Sr.; her mother and stepfather, Leoncia Constranche and Albert Pellegrin Sr.; one son, Newman Benoit Jr.; one daughter, Diana Arcenaux; two brothers, James “Jimmy” Pellegrin and Oscar Linwood Liner Jr.; and two sisters, Jeannette LeBouef and Angelina Dupre. She was a homemaker and a member of Shield of God Ministry in Bayou Blue
