The world lost one of its greatest members today. Andrew “Scooter” Claude Gilleland, 58, died Monday, September 22, 2014 at 5:30 AM.
He passed away peacefully at home in his favorite chair.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Chauvin Funeral Home and on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 9:00AM until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 11:00AM at Chauvin Funeral Home, with burial to be held in North Carolina.
Scooter was a mechanic by trade, but a businessman at heart. He owned and operated ABC Home Services for the last 21 years. He loved to give and was known to help anyone in need. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. His kids were his pride and joy and he cherished every moment that he spent with them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Rose Ledet Gilleland, whom he loved with all his heart. He leaves behind three children, his oldest son, Andrew Craig Hoyle, who made him extremely proud, and his wife Crystal of Maiden, North Carolina; his daughter, Lacy Elizabeth Gilleland, who was his heart, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and his youngest son, Joshua Hughes Gilleland, who was his right-hand man and best friend, of Houma, Louisiana; one granddaughter, Madeline Antoinette Hoyle, who had his heart; two brothers, Doyle Coleman Gilleland and Ronald Oscar Gilleland of Maiden, North Carolina. He is also survived by six nieces and three nephews who he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Pinkney Gilleland and Barbara Hollar Gilleland.
