Shirley McKaughan Porche, 75, a native of Lockport, LA and resident of Bayou Blue, LA passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Sunday, September 14, 2014, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Friday, September 19, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in Bayou Blue. Religious services will be at 11 a.m., with burial in Daigle Cemetery immediately following.
She is survived by two daughters, Ginger Rouse and husband Clay, of Mobile, AL, and Becky Sutton and husband Jeff, of Colorado Springs, CO, one brother, Emert McKaughan and wife Barbara, of Nashoba, OK, one sister, Fonda Boudreaux, of Jesup, GA, and two grandchildren, Brittney and Clay Rouse Jr. of Mobile, AL.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Clark J. Porche, her dear son Timothy Porche, her parents Elmo Sidney McKaughan and Anna Irene McKaughan Lococo and husband Frank Lococo .
Shirley was a graduate of Lockport High School class of 1957. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bayou Blue. She was a life long homemaker, many would describe her as compassionate, giving, empathetic, selfless and a loving individual. She would always put the needs of others before hers. She valued life and lived everyday to the fullest. Shirley was the most unique, one of a kind person you would ever meet. She was larger than life. She will be remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, godmother, sister, friend, chef who enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends and last but not least an eclectic collector.
She will be a greatly missed by family and friends.
