Calvin Joseph Ortego, 91, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at 09:50 AM.
He was a native of Ville Platte, LA and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 8:00 AM until Service time at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Burial: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
He is survived by his,
loving wife, Ann Gwin Ortego of Houma,
daughter, Paula and Tim Greaud of Houma,
sons, Rick and Donna Ortego of Houma, and Dean and Pam Ortego of Houma and Mike Ortego of Lafayette,
step children, Mark and Rhonda Lemoine of Houma, Robin Lemoine of Fairhope, Al, Jennifer Lemoine of New Orleans, and Laura Lemoine of Houma,
He was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his,
loving wife of 51 years Berna Mae Fontenot Ortego,
parents, Fabuse Ortego and Amy Ortego
son, J.C. Ortego and his three brothers and one sister
Calvin was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church. In his early days, Calvin worked the cotton fields during the afternoon and weekends graduating from Ville Platte High School on 1941.
In 1942 he enlisted in the Navy where he served in WWII in the South Pacific. When he returned he moved to Houma where he started a very successful career in the oil industry. He was a well respected entrepreneur and executive touching many people's lives along the way.
Calvin loved fishing, hunting, golfing and his biggest passion was cooking wonderful meals for his family and friends.
