Mae Marion Solito Smith, 76, a native and resident of Houma, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the church; burial to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Ordis "Buddy" Smith III and wife Bonnie DeRoche Smith; Granddaughters Heidi Smith Acosta and husband Marc, Heather Smith and Fiancee' Robert Picou; Great-grandchildren Emma Grace and Cohen Michael Acosta; Sister Marie Solito Posecai and husband Warren; Brother Peter Solito; Brother Charles Solito and wife Judy. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ordis "Buddy" Smith Jr., and her parents Joseph and Maebelle Solito. Marion loved being outdoors, dancing, exercising, painting, riding in her dune buggy during Mardi Gras and going to the casino with family and friends! She was a homemaker who took great joy in taking care of her family. She loved playing with her grand and great grandchildren. They were the love of her life! Marion was the life of the party with jokes and lots of laughter. She knew how to have a good time and lived life to the fullest. The family would like to Thank her long term care givers Caroline and Darice for taking such good care of her, as well as her nurse Carol and everyone at Haydel Hospice; Dr. Raul Doria, Nurse Doe, all of her Chemo nurses at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC; and Dr. Bruce Guidry for their outstanding support and dedication over the past years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
