Albert Milton “Man” Besson Jr., 91, died in his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He was a born on Shadyside Plantation in Franklin, La and was a resident of Montegut, La.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 9:00AM until service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1113 Hwy 55 Montegut, La. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Vesta Rita Crochet Besson; children, Sondras Saucier, Steve Besson, Vanessa Naquin; grandchildren, Kandie Saucier, Kyle Saucier and wife Esprit, Kristina Levron; great grandson, Austin Lirette; siblings, Joyce Simoneaux and husband Pete, Shirley Wheats, Dorothy “Dot” Dover, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Milton Besson Sr and Linda Bodin Besson; grandson, Craig Lirette; brother in laws, Guy Landry, Fred Wheats, John Dover; and son in law, Curtis Saucier Sr.
Albert was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in the 86 Blackhawk Unit during WWII in the Southwest Pacific in the New Guinea area. He was honored with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Asian Pacific Medal, American Campaign Medal, Victory WWII Medal, Marksmen Rifle Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and a Veterans Honor Medal from the state of LA for his service. He was also a prisoner of war. He then worked for Texaco as a welder and compressor operator until his retirement. He was an active member of the American Legion, Post 272, where he served as a leader in the organization. Leadership roles included Department Vice Commander, Area C Commander, District Vice Commander, District Commander, and the Department Executive Committee.
Albert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.
