Joseph”Papa Joe” Carlton Schouest Sr, 86, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 10:40 AM. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home. Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 8:00 AM until Service time at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Chauvin Funeral Home. Burial: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. He is survived by his, Beloved Wife of 68 years, Juanita Buquet Schouest Sons, Joseph C. Schouest Jr and wife Bonnie Chauvin Schouest, Chris J. Schouest Sr and wife Cheryl Ledet Schouest, Lance D. Schouest Sr and wife Gloria Bergeron Schouest all of Houma Daughters, Cheryl Schouest Brinkman and husband Thomas Brinkman, of Sunset, LA and Trudy Schouest Eichorn and husband James R. Eichorn Jr of Houma, 17 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, Brothers, Ellis Schouest Jr and Eugene Schouest, and sisters, Leona Rebert and Theresa Trosclair. He was preceded in death by his, Parents, Ellis Schouest Sr and Leona Engeron Schouest and Brothers, Michael Schouest and Timothy Schouest Joseph was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church. A man of many loves, “Papa Joe” loved fishing and hunting. The thrill of the catch, particularly a tarpon, was second only to his family. He loved taking his family out on the water and in the latter years of his life he expressed great love for his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
