Ronald James Ortego Sr., 80, a native of Ville Platte and resident of Houma, died at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from noon till funeral time Monday at St. Bernadette Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis Fontenot Ortego of Houma; three sons, Ronald Ortego Jr. and wife, Janice, Steve Ortego and Tim Ortego of Houma; one daughter, Stephanie Fulin and husband Wayne of Sugarland, Texas; two brothers, Calvin Ortego of Houma and Gerald Ortego of Ville Platte; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fabuse Ortego and Amy Fontenot Ortego; one brother, George Ortego; and one sister, Berna Belle Stanbrough.
He was a retired chemical engineer with LA Mud Company for 40 years.
He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
