He enjoyed the annual Arkansas deer hunts, the gatherings of family and friends, and was faithful in his church attendance and the support of Christian faith. His faith was shown more by his actions than words.   He was unique in his ideas and ability to look for the best in others. He inspired others to succeed and was known for his philosophy stated in one sentence; “One must have a ‘definiteness’ of purpose.” He applied that policy in all areas of his life.   After high school, Cliff joined the US Navy where he served as a Dental Assistant/ Medical Corpsman, serving in the Pacific with the Seabees at Iwo Jima. He brought his family to Houma in 1957 to work at KCIL as a broadcasting engineer and also sold radio advertising. In 1960, he began his career in real estate with Patterson Real Estate & Insurance Agency, and purchased the real estate firm about 1966. In 1993, he transferred Patterson Real Estate Agency to his daughter and her husband, Ron Brooks, but continued his work as a Realtor, homebuilder, and investor until his recent retirement. He enjoyed all facets of the real estate industry. He was a member and past president of the Bayou Board of Realtors, Southeast La. Homebuilders Association. He served as a Deacon at Mulberry Baptist Church, serving on many committees throughout the years.   His ambition in later life was for the success of his children, and he has been an exceptional loving and supportive grandfather, encouraging each of them to take advantage of educational opportunities.   Jerrie was the love of his life for more than 67 years. Cliff and Jerrie worked together and played together, travelled every state in the US and all the provinces in Canada, all the way to the Arctic Circle, and other countries, and created a loving family that will love and miss their Dad and “PaPaw” greatly.
