Meryl Mae Babin Chauvin, 81, a native and resident of Houma, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Lynn Chauvin and wife, Brenda, of Anahuac, Texas, George Chauvin and wife, Mary, and Douglas Chauvin and wife, Lori, of Houma; one sister, Vera Guaraggi of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; nine grandchildren, Tammie Evans, Traci Smith, David Chauvin, George Chauvin Jr., Michael Chauvin, Mary Allyson Henson, Melanie Morgan, Leslie Chauvin and Michael Morgan; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Joseph Chauvin; her parents, Van Joseph Babin and Clavia Chauvin; four brothers, Wilmer, Murphy, Earl and Lloyd Babin; and three sisters, Helen Domangue, Jeannette Daughty and Genevieve Webre.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed her last few years with her extended family at the Homestead, she was fondly known by everyone as Meryl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Vandebilt Catholic High School.
