Harris John Ledet, 81, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 05:20 PM. He was a native of Pointe Aux Chenes, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 9:00 AM until service time at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. A Military Service will begin at 9:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. Burial: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 He is survived by his, his loving wife of 57 years, Carlene Boquet Ledet, son, Arlen Ledet and wife Toni, daughter Lenar Ledet Whitney and husband Lee, son Brett Ledet and wife Lisa, daughter Lynell Ledet Ford and partner Lanny Domangue, son, Craig Ledet and wife Jesslyn, son, Don Ledet and wife Dana, fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one step great grandchild and two sisters, Iris Ledet McClesky and Mary Ledet. He was preceded in death by his, parents, Wilfred Paul Ledet and Inez Naquin Ledet, two grandchildren, Logan Thomas Ledet and Marvin V. "Tre" Marmande, III. He was a devoted husband and loving father of 6 children. He was a great dad and provider who led by example, a golfer, fisherman, hunter and bowler. He served 2 years in the Louisiana National Guard and 4 ½ years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was on the Founding Board and a volunteer fireman of the Bayou Cane Fire Department. He was an Insurance Agent for 35 years working the last 20 years as Vice President of Kenny and Associates. He served as President of Terrebonne Insurance Exchange Association. He was a founding member of St. Bernadette Parish and led many councils and a Eucharistic Minister. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
