Richard Camille Mire, 82, a native and resident of Houma, died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Mass will at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vera Catherine Guidry Mire of Houma; three sons, Richard P. Mire, Stephen P. Mire and wife, Carla, Melody Mire, and Kerry M. Mire of Houma; two daughters, Mary Kay Burkot and husband, Joseph, of Cranberry Township, Penn., and Catherine J. Mire of Houma; and five grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah and Rebecca Burkot and Erin and Sean Mire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurent Mire and Jeanne Daigle Mire; two brothers, Claude Mire and Hillard Mire; and two sisters, Mae Bertrand and Ouida Mire.
He was a retired insurance agent with Funderburk Agency, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Marie Immacolata Community Center Fund.
