Harold Michael Castell Sr., 74, passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was a native of New Orleans, La and resident of DuLarge, LA.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 5:00PM-9:00PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc and Friday, February 7, 2014 from 9:00AM until Mass at St. Eloi Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Eloi Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at St. Eloi Catholic Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his,
wife, Emily Caillouette Castell;
sons, Harold Castell Jr., Danny Castell and wife Nicole;
daughter, Penny Gleason and husband Greg;
grandchildren, Philip, Jacob, Joshua, Sarah, Madison, Alexander, and Emma;
great grandchildren, Philip and Gavin; and
sister, Rose Kuhl.
He was preceded in death by his,
parents, Archibald Castell and Veronica Tujague;
brothers, Archibald Castell and Eugene Castell;
Sister, Pearl Castell; and
grandson, Gregory Michael Gleason.
He was a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church.
Harold was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Eloi, Council 8779. He enjoyed coaching, sports, and horse racing. Furthermore, he contributed 29 years of service as Recreation Director of Terrebonne Parish Recreation District 10. His positive attributes as a coach, mentor, and father figure touched the lives of many youth in the DuLarge community and other local communities as well. In addition to his coaching ability, his natural gift to mentor and counsel youth will be long remembered as his legacy. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
