Pierre "Leonce" Richard, 93, a native of Erath, and life long resident of Houma,died Sunday morning December 15, 2013 peacefully in his sleep of natural causes. Services will be held Thursday December 19 at Maria Immacolata Church, 236 Corporate Dr. in Houma. Wake will be from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. with Funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Francis # 2 cemetery. He is survived by his 5 children: Arnold G. Richard, wife Kathy; Nevelyn A. Richard; Janice Richard LeCompte, husband Stephen, Henry J. Richard, wife Sharon; Walter A. Richard, wife Veronica: 9 grand children; Emily Richard, Marty Miller, Scotty Miller, Natalie Miller, Derek Miller, Barrett Miller, Trisha R. Carmouche, Dustin Richard, Ryan Richard. 5 step grand children; Ashley Hollis, Stephen LeCompte Jr., Eric LeCompte, Allison LeCompte, Patrick Farrell, 15 great grand children; Madison Miller, Luke Miller, Bryce Miller, Jordyn Megens, Ethan Miller, Maizzie Miller, Taylor Carmouche, Cole Carmouche, Ethan Carmouche, Jett Carmouche, Conrad Richard, Isabella Richard, Reece Richard, Max Richard, Stella Richard. 6 step great grand children; Bryanne Hollis, Zachary Hollis, Analia LeCompte, Carter LeCompte, Gigi Goncalves, Alexandra Farrell. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Stella Isabella Dryer, he will be joining her in heaven; His parents Albert Walter Richard and Marie Alice Molaison Richard and His brothers Joseph Richard and Laywood Richard. He was raised in a house where the St. Francis De Sales nuns convent is today. His father was the sexton at St. Francis De Sales under Father Vandebilt. Leonce would help ring the angels bell daily at the church and do chores. Leonce graduated Terrebonne High School and Soule' Business College in New Orleans. He served in the U .S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a bookkeeper by trade and business owner and Co-founded Houma's first hamburger drive-in Best-O-Burger in 1955. He was an American Legion life time member and founding member of Terrebonne Tennis Club. He was a 4th degree Grand Knight in Knights of Columbus and was instrumental in the organization of Maria Immacolata Church. He was a Krewe of Christopher founding member, 2nd king, captain for numerous years and life time member. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and enjoyed traveling in his camper. Leonce was a living testament of the "Greatest Generation." In lieu of flowers the family prefer that donations be made to Maria Immacolata Church in his name for memorial masses or building fund.
